As data becomes increasingly digitized, opportunities arise to transform corporate data into something more value-creating and to gain valuable insights. This is especially true in the payroll process, where multiple stakeholders are eager to access certain information. In this article, we discuss some of the reporting requirements that are part of the payroll process.

Reporting Requirements to SCB

The Swedish National Statistical Agency (SCB) is a government authority that is highly interested in the information handled in payroll processing, such as bonuses and irregular payments, economic statistics, wage structure statistics, and sick leave during the sick pay period. Many companies meet the criteria that require them to report various statistics to SCB. This reporting must be done either monthly, annually, or even every four years.

Changes Are Also Occurring in the World of Statistics

It’s not always easy for employers to meet all the reporting requirements. There can be both complicated instructions and terms, as well as challenges in prioritizing reporting everything on time. As the world changes, so do the reporting requirements. New opportunities and conditions are created with the development of different technical solutions, and there is also a demand for different types of data than what was previously relevant and required.

New SCB Updates for 2024

In just the past six months, there have been several changes at SCB and in their reporting requirements. For instance, SCB's short-term employment statistics (KS) have been discontinued as of April 2024. Instead, they have introduced a new statistic, Employment (ANST), for which SCB will utilize information from the Employer's Declaration on an Individual Level (AGI) via the Swedish Tax Agency, as well as information from the new Sick Leave Statistics (SuS). Since January 2024, the Economic Statistics on Sick Pay (KSju) has been discontinued and replaced with the Sick Leave Statistics (SuS).

There Are Many Reporting Requirements

It’s not just SCB that imposes reporting requirements. As an employer, you are obliged to report to a number of different authorities. Some of the most common reports that we at Azets assist other companies with include:

  • Employer's Declaration on an Individual Level to the Swedish Tax Agency
  • Sick Reporting to the Swedish Social Insurance Agency
  • Wage Garnishment to the Swedish Enforcement Authority
  • Pensionable Salary and Employment Changes to Pension Intermediaries (commonly Collectum and Fora).

To understand which reporting requirements apply to you, we at Azets can help you identify the relevant requirements and potentially assist in gathering the necessary information. We can also help ensure that the reporting is complete and submitted on time. Contact us here, and we’ll assist you!
